The Attack of the Killer Chicken

This is a tale that would be good for a late night spooky stories campfire with a little moderation. I’ll leave that to you.

One of my good horse friends needed someone to care for his horses while out of town. Someone volunteered me or maybe I volunteered myself. Said volunteer and relative of mine, who for this post will be called Boo, went to take care of our friends six horses, pig, chickens, ducks, donkey, rabbits, goat and his cow. Okay, so he didn’t have a cow and I’m not sure he had the donkey at the time, but you get the picture. Boo warned me about the odd rooster. Naturally, I laughed it off. Hmmm, does that mean I should listen more often? Heavy pause. No.

It seemed okay at first. The rooster just kept his distance or maybe he pondered his best strategy. We went about our business, feeding. Boo left the barn and just outside the chicken attacked, painfully using his spur. He left in a hurry as Boo gained her feet. He roared with triumph, rolling his eyes, at Boo’s vehement swearing.   She picked up a stick and began yelling at the chicken that she was going to have it for dinner.  Finally, she ran out of air.  The rooster shouted to the sun that he had won.

She watched her step after that. He does that all the time, so I’ve been told since. Boo carries a big stick around that barn. It hasn’t deterred him. He still likes to play attack of the killer chicken.
