Food for Thought: Who is the trainer—the rider or the horse?

Published by amylynn615 at 9:04 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I remember my first riding lesson as if it was yesterday.  (It wasn’t).  A beautiful mare with a coat like a ray of sunshine and mane like snow stood patiently as the instructor saddled her. Through the years, people and horses have come and left.  My contemporaries and I have had the same trainer since those early years.  Yet, I ride much differently, and view riding from a different perspective, then they do.  The question, I pose to you, my dear readers, is simple.  Who really is the trainer of the young impressionable girls and boys having their first set of lessons? Is it the instructor?  Or is a good lesson horse worth his or her weight in gold?
